Where is a good place to camp in the mount shasta area (California)?

We are about to go on a roadtrip to Portland and a good halfway point for us to stay the night is the mount shasta area. Does anyone have recommendations of a campground somewhere around there, preferably not more than 20 miles off the I-5. We are tent campers and prefer somewhere that is very quiet and not RV oriented. Appreciate any suggestions! Thanks

Shastahome.com has a list of some good campgrounds in that area.Campsites near I-5 are probably going to be pretty busy and thus you won't get the peace you said you are looking for. I know that there are many more secluded campgrounds west of I-5 along Highway 3, and you can even use it as a scenic detour if you wanted... it's beautiful country.
