how can we make a dc generator using mechanical energy like rotating or string pulling?

i need to make a small dc generator motor which can give upto 9V..by using mechanical energy like rotating the coil or pulling the string using our hand..

First u need an armature surrounded by magnet. If you dont have it then you can find old dc motor of 9-12 volt from an electrician mechanic shop. This motor can be used as dc generator. Find out two ends of armature wire and connect it to bulb or galvanometer to check the current. Now on shaft fix a pulley and then place over it a belt whose other end should be over the bigger diameter diskconnected with handle which is to be rotate by hand. fix all the arrangement on hard board. Belt should be tightened on motor pulley and disk both. Hurray!!! its prepared.
