Why does my generac generator shutdown when i put a load on it?
I have a Generac NP40-G RV model generator and every time I try to turn on my A/C it revs up spits and sputters and then shuts down, but it works with anything else I plug into it. I have no idea whats wrong with it and need help.
Alright the Generator puts out almost 4000 watts and the A/C only takes a little more than 500.
Yes I'm sure its a 500 Watt it says so on the A/C unit so my generator should be more than capable of powering it but every time I turn it on it just dies.

I have seen this before and it was caused by high engine temperatures.
