How do I compute the required HP for a dc motor to push a 1000 lb tricycle max speed of 50kph?

Anyone know how to work the equation?

To figure this first you need KW not HP, 2.16hp = 1.6 KW.
Kw is a more useful value to do the calculations.
Next you will need to know the loses on the Trike, aero, gear box, weight, max. grade to climb. etc.
But with out going with all the math, you will need close to 15~20 hp to go close to 30mph.
(I did this with a 4 wheeler a few years ago and a trike would be similar.)
