does anyone know where I could find a free manual for my yamaha outboard?
I have a 1998 50 hp outboard yamaha. I am looking for a manual for it and not the small simple one that you recieve when you buy the engine. I am talking about one of the big ones that actually show you how to fix things. A free one would be nice because I know they can be expensive. Thanks
The manuals are copy right for 50 years from first publication. New they are around $50, second hand half that or less. If you look in the technical section of your local public library they often have a selection of manuals that you can browse through - mostly you can photo-copy the few pages you need, but it is not legal to copy more than 10% for research of any publication, and full attribution is a consideration of this permission. I have pulled most brands apart over the years, but not Yammies of that exact size or year so do not intend to speculate. Some brands require them to be in forward gear to drop and replace, it depends on the linkage type. Any website purporting to give links to 'free' workshop manuals are certainly oozing with mal and spy ware to a disgusting degree, I would not go near them ever even with very good antivirus programmes running.
