Briggs 3.75 - Replaced Carb, Now Wont Even Start?
I have a Generac powerwasher, and the engine has been hunting pretty bad, so I replaced the whole carb assembly. Once I replaced the carb, I primed the engine until I knew for sure it was not just shooting air in the engine. I have tried about 100 times, and I cant even get the engine to start for even a second. Any thoughts?
Any of several possibilities. The main jet in the Carburetor may be out of adjustment, the intake Manifold Gasket may be leaking, the fuel line may be shut off.
Start with fuel into the carburetor, check the sediment bowl, then spray starting fluid in the Air Filter and try to start it. If nothing happens, verify spark by removing the plug and observing the spark when it is turned over.
When an engine is hunting it may be something beside a carburetor, is the throttle linkage and the auto adjust loose and well lubricated? If no spark, is the shut off switch still in the off position even if it seems to be in the run position. Also check the gas cap for a clear air vent. If all else fails, take it to the local small engine service center.
