I want to tap into my 220 (30 Amp) dryer for a 110 volt washer?
At my panel I have a double pole 30 Amp breaker, 10/3 running to my dryer (about 40 feet). Can I tap into that for my 110 washer so I don't have to run another circuit?
No, it would be a code violation on a number of levels and a safety and operation problem (tapping onto one of the 110 legs in the 220 line would unbalance the load.) A dryer has to have a dedicated line and breaker and so does a washer outlet. If you've run out of breakers in your panel you can replace one that's in use with what are called "half size" or "half inch" breakers (two breakers that fit in one slot in the panel) and move a couple of lighting or light use power outlets to that breaker, leaving a full width 110 breaker slot free to install the 30 amp breaker for your washing machine.
