2001 ford taurus 3.0 OHV 208,000. blew head gaskets rebuilt, stumbles misses at idle throws #1 misfire?
I am a peterbilt diesel mechanic so i know my way around but gas engines are not like a diesel. blew the head gasket at #5 cylinder at 207,500 miles took off both heads had them sent to a machine shop to get pressure checked, magnafluxed and resurfaced, lapped the valves replaced the valve stem seals and rebuilt. now car had a miss at idle and stumbles at take off and throws a #1 miss fire code. i have swapped the plugs and wires no difference. also ohmed out the coil pack and was bad but problem still exsist but not as bad. pulled intake back off replaced the lifters reran the valve adjustments no difference. changed the IAC now it has gotten a little worse. also sprayed the entire top side down with starting fluid and came up with nothing on the vacuum leaks but it still could exsist i guess. any help?
yes i changed the coil pack it tested bad by 100 ohmes but it made very little difference. when i changed the IAC it got worse...
try disconnecting various sensors (IAC MAF, DPFE ect)to see if you can get the engine to run in open loop(running on stored parameters) and make the miss go away. If it does it's a sensor.
Did you replace the coil pack? If not be sure thatyou do.
